Coachella Festival
The 9th annual
Coachella Festival
has expanded to three days: April 17-19, 2009 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). It is taking place the weekend before the
Stagecoach Festival
and with the same venue location.
Coachella is located in one of the most stunning festival-locations in the world, the
Empire Polo Field
in Indio, California (

). It is estimated that over 120,000 people will attend this years event. We recommend not waiting until the last minute to make
your travel and lodging / hotel reservation plans; Coachella ALWAYS sells out.
Two main stages will dominate the site, with three extra tents lined up alongside. Everything with Coachella and the Empire Polo Field is meticulously
planned and put together. Coachella has a tradition of booking some of the world's biggest bands, like Radiohead, The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand,
Coldplay, Nineinchnails, and Madonna all playing in recent years.

Transportation
- Traffic: Peek periods with very heavy traffic are from an hour before through an hour after gates open, and again after the
festival closes, each day. Traffic between peek periods will be heavy but not as congested.
- Private Auto: Give yourself 5-10 minutes for every mile you have to drive. If you decide to pick up a hitch hiker along the
way, that would be kind of you, just USE YOUR COMMON SENSE!
- Taxi/Cab: Share the load. Your not alone, almost everyone you see around you is attending the festival. Huddle-up and share
the expense. Hotels will have phone numbers of local transportation services in the area.
- Limos: There are private companies providing limo service to/from the event. Share the load and expense. Hotels will have
phone numbers.
- Hotel Provided Transportation: Few if any of the hotels in the area will be providing transportation to/from the Coachella
event.
- Hitching: Lots of people will be willing to give you a ride. Stick out your thumb and USE YOUR COMMON SENSE!
